Plans for 2020-2021 School Year

Plans for 2020-2021 School Year

The KCA Board of education and teachers have worked to arrange students into smaller groups or ‘pods’. This is in an effort to help reduce large gatherings and provide the best educational experience for your child.

In addition to daily cleaning of restrooms, handrails, students desks and chairs, and the cleaning of lunchroom tables after each session, KCA would like to provide the following plans to help keep your child healthy and safe.

This three phase planning is to provide assurance and education about our efforts for your child’s health. Please understand that we will work to provide more information about what Plan C will look like based on the grade of your child as the first of the school year approaches.

Pod 1
Preschool, Kindergarten, First and Second Grade
Pod 2
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade

Pod 3
Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grade

Plan A

  • Students/Teachers/Volunteers can choose to wear face masks, but it is not required.
  • Students/Teachers/Volunteers will receive a temperature check upon arriving.
    • If temperature reads 100.0°F or above, they will be rechecked in the office.
    • Outcome upon second check will determine if student/teacher/volunteer shall remain at the school.
  • Students will head to classrooms upon arriving at school.
  • Students will be divided into smaller groups or pods for Lunch and Recess times.
  • Arrangements for weekly Chapel services are still pending.
  • Classrooms will have water coolers for students to refill their own water bottles.
  • Teachers and Staff will initiate more frequent cleaning.
  • Students will be dismissed from classrooms at the end of the day.

If the State, County, or City would implement a requirement for face masks to be worn in public, then we would move to Plan B.

Plan B, All of Plan A will apply plus….

  • Students/Teachers/Volunteers will be required to wear face masks.
  • Students/Teachers/Volunteers will be asked to wipe down the toilet and sink after each own use.
  • KCA will not be ordering hot lunches on Wednesdays.
  • Microwave usage will be handled by a gloved Volunteer/ Teacher.

  • If a Student/ Teacher/Volunteer tests positive with COVID-19, the school will contact the Health Department for guidance in how to proceed. KCA will close for 24-48 hours in order to deep clean the school buildings.
  • If the State/ County or City mandates a stay at home order, the school will move to Plan C.

Plan C

  • Students will move to distance learning from home. This transition will happen with a reasonable amount of time with consideration to our families
